When I founded my professional development company, I gave serious thought to how to name it. I knew I wanted to help people reach their goals and achieve "success" in their own terms. It was clear to me that each one of us is able of crafting our own definition of success. We just need a little coaching to help us through the process.
I also wanted to acknowledge the diversity of our collective experiences and backgrounds. The ability to learn from others' perspectives and viewpoints is a skill that is seldom developed. I wanted to highlight how our diverse opinions could help us become more innovative, creative and collaborative as we forge our own meaning of success.
Hence the name Shades of Success was born. Success comes in many forms. It depends on what is important to you. Not what is important to the media, your peers or the latest gossip magazine. When you achieve what you feel is important in your life, that's when you become successful.
