It has been a tough year. Adjusting to the demands of motherhood and full-time studies have exceeded any challenge I have ever had. This year has been exhausting, frustrating and highly demanding on my time and health. Despite my newly chaotic lifestyle, I was prepared to write a nice post about life, motherhood and family.
Then my laptop broke. Yes, my laptop died on Tuesday night just as I was about to send in a draft of a paper for review. A series of events led up to my laptop's demise.
Between Tuesday and today I did not feel very thankful at all. I am still working on it.
Trying to be appreciative of what we have when we are hit with problems is not easy. It takes time to deal with the rage, frustration and sadness that our present challenges make us feel.
I bought myself a new laptop and, as I started loading new programs and recreating my files, I thought of doing the same with the rest of year: Face adversity with less frustration and more hope that things will turn out for the best. Even when the road looks rocky ahead.
Wow. What an election night. Even our ten-month baby boy knew that something was happening. He would not go to sleep until the election results were in!
